B.R. Blooms Special Announcement
Now that the weather has finally changed and our gardens are getting ready for winter we would like to thank all the people and businesses that helped out during our bloom season  2011.
-To the five members and one honourary member of Blooms, without your dedication and commitment our gardens would be weeds not flowers.
-To the Hermans for looking after the watering of the barrel at the Centennial Park.
-To Hugh Armstrong for his care of the garden at Centennial Park and his donation of day lilies that have been planted.
-To the City of Kawartha Lakes Parks/Recreation and Culture Division, Community Partnership and Development Fund for the grant we received in the spring which enabled us to care for and maintain our four gardens in Burnt River.
-To Craig Shanks & Jen Johnson from Parks/Rec and Culture Division for their help.
-To Dudman Construction for their kindness, patience and prompt response to our cry for help this past year.
-To everyone who has supported our group in any way, past or present. We hope that you continue to do so in the future.
It takes a lot of planning, planting, kindness, patience and community spirit to accomplish our goals each year. Thank you.

Thought for the Month

Mona's daffodils announce it's Spring
To Burnt River people, they make us sing
Their blast of yellow, they brighten our day
As they shout to us, once again it's May
Thank you Mona, for your garden so bright
For all of us, it's a beautiful sight

Burnt River Community Centre Update

At the Management Board’s Annual General Meeting held earlier this month, the following details were confirmed.  The executive members remain the same for the coming year –namely, Chair-George Heath, Sec.-June Hunter, Treas.-Hugh Armstrong, and Booking Agent-Erin Handley.  The 2010 Financial Statement for the Volunteer Management Board was presented and approved and has been forwarded to the CoKL’s accounting department for audit.  For your information, a copy has been posted at the Centre and if you have any question, do not hesitate to ask any of the Board Members for clarification.  Once again, the Board would be most appreciative of new members wishing to become more involved and contributing to the community.  We are a Board of nine positions and there are current vacancies. It is certainly advantageous if all Community Organizations or small groups who use the Centre have a representative member on the Board.  If interested in serving or for more information, please call the Chair of the Management Board, George Heath at 488-1211.
