Story time and craft at 10:30.

Saturday May 8th
Coboconk-Norland United Church Walkathon for Mission and Service. A beautiful 6 km walk through Joyce Bartley’s sugarbush with lunch after at Norland’s Church Hall. Forms are available at the Burnt River United Church.

Thursday May 13th
Our Congo ladies (2 or 3) supported by the UCW for the past 2 years, for the development of a school addition in the Congo, will be attending the women’s UCW meeting at Burnt River United Church around 2 pm and onwards. They will stay for tea and a visit. Please feel free to join us to hear how the project is progressing.

Saturday May 22nd
St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Burnt River is hosting their annual roast beef dinner at the Community Centre from 4 – 6:30. Adults $12.50 Children 5-12 $6.00 Under 5 free Don’t miss this delicious meal!

Wednesday May 26th
Diners’ Dinner at Burnt River Centre will start at noon.

Friday, May 28th
Games Day at Burnt River Centre from 1 to 4 p.m. Come out for the afternoon and enjoy a variety of card and word games or bring your own. Mark your calendars now.

Burnt River Firefighters
had a sell out at their 5th annual Jewellery, Brunch and Fashion show. All 139 people had a great brunch consisting of biscuits fresh from the oven, baked home fries, sausage, peameal bacon, regular bacon, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and jams, tea and coffee. After brunch the fashion show was presented by the Village Shop in Fenelon Falls with clothing from, Simon Chang, Royal Robins, Tribal Sports Wear, and French Dressing. Thanks to those who donated door prizes, The Big Event - Fenelon Falls, Handley Lumber Fenelon Falls,, M.A.P - Fenelon Falls, Sam Hopkins Burnt River, Kawartha Lakes EMS, Fire Chief Dave Guilbault, John Blackmore, Burnt River Firefighter Association, Kawartha Lakes Volunteer Firefighter's Association. Some of the money raised was donated to The Salvation Army - Fenelon Falls, Kawartha Lakes Food Source, A Place Called Home, and Ride For The Cure (cancer). John Blackmore has challenged all Firefighters to donate to the Ride For The Cure, George Skerratt a Paramedic will ride his bicycle 200 miles on June 12 and 13 - 2010 from Toronto to Niagara Falls. With this challenge we hope to put George over the top. For more information you can call John at 454-8577. We are looking forward to our 6th show next year.

Sunday June 6th
Mark your calendars for Burnt River United Church 122nd Anniversary. Service begins at 11 a.m. with George Bradbury speaking, followed by a pot luck lunch on the lawn, weather permitting. The choir prepares a singing number for this. All are invited to come and share in the celebration.

Thought for the Month: By the time you wait for your ship to come in, the cargo may have shifted.
