AUGUST 2009

Burnt River Community Centre Update

You will be pleased when you next visit the Centre to see that the capital upgrading project at the front entrance has been completed. The new gabled roof was designed to better and more safely handle the snow fall-off from the main roof during our wonderful winters. All exposed metal on the existing under-structure has been steel cladded in white to eliminate on-going maintenance/painting concerns. Another capital upgrade being completed in 2009 is the replacement of the existing “very tired” old furnace with a new hopefully more energy efficient unit. On behalf of everyone in the community, the Volunteer Management Board of the BRCC sincerely thanks the City of the Kawartha Lakes and our local councilor, David Hodgson, for addressing and approving these significant capital upgrades in their 2009 Budget..

The BRAG is entering the computer age.
Due to rising postal and printing costs it has been considered more economical for the BRAG to appear, in its original format, at a convenient Blog address www.brbrag.blogspot.com .

Those who already receive their monthly BRAG via email will continue to do so. If you wish to have your name added to the email list, email wendywat1@gmail.com or burntriverbrag@gmail.com

Remember that free access to the internet is available at the Burnt River Library as well as at the Burnt River Post Office.

A copy of the BRAG will be posted on the bulletin boards of the Community Centre and the Post Office.
If there are BRAG readers who do not use a computer, special arrangements can be made by calling Angela at 454-2656 or Wendy at 454-8878.
